Anna Ferguson (b. 1997) is a London-based artist and researcher originally from Chicago. Her artistic practice centers around figurative drawing and painting. Working primarily in charcoal and oils, Anna’s work draws on classical techniques and materials to depict surrealist inner landscapes. Her work blends portraiture, mythology, and fantasy to portray the evershifting nature of identity, agency, and reality.
Alongside her artistic practice, Anna is a researcher whose work focuses on the arts and culture of Southwest Asia and North Africa (SWANA) with a regional focus on the Levant and the Persianate world. Holding an MA in Arab Studies from Georgetown University as well as an MA in Curating Cultures from SOAS, University of London, Anna's academic work draws on decolonial and feminist frameworks to explore dynamics of power and resistance in the arts.
